Rye Harbour Farm
For 25 years this farm was intensive arable, but some special wildlife managed to thrive, such as Yellow Wagtail and Marsh Helleborine. Other species, like Least Letuce disappeared. In 2003 the Environment Agency bought most of the farm and have built a new sea defence embankment. The material for the bank was dug from the farm and has created seven interesting pools. The farm has many interesting shingle features, but none were damaged by this engineering work.
This is not yet part of the Nature Reserve, but it is full of fantastic wildlife and can be viewed from footpaths.
