RX Wildlife Festival
The area from Hastings to Hythe (Kent) is of international importance for its wildlife and has many sites run by different organisations that are not only conserving rare habitats and species, but also encouraging public enjoyment and participation. This wide area, across two counties has an informal working arrangement under the banner of RX Wildlife – this name can be explained by looking at the fishing boat registration numbers that are based in the area where RX is derived from R ye susse X .
The 5th Wildlife Festival will take place on 23rd to 31st May 2009 and there will be more than 65 wildlife and countryside activities, including Pond Dipping, Follow in the footsteps of young Darwin, Guided Walks, Cycle Rides, Woodland Adventure Games, Discover Dragonflies, Bumblebee Days, Birdwatching, Shingle Flowers, Art Exhibitions and much more.
So this would be a good time to plan a visit to this corner of East Sussex to discover, nesting seabirds and waders, unusual wild flowers, a range of scarce insects, or just a peaceful wetland walk.
